Change Management, Theory and Planning

One of the most complex subjects that I have devoted countless hours researching, synthesizing and planning for adult leaders is around change and how to successfully plan and implement it. Our team's task has been to comb through the mountain of research from the likes of our great educational leaders like Steve Barkley, George Curous, Robert J. Marzano, Jim Knight, and John Hattie. And not only that, but how does the work from Simon Sinek, Chip and Dan Heath, John Kotter and William Bridges all fit together to paint a cohesive message on how to successfully lead a school through change that focuses on our students.

The reason why school change is so complex is because we as humans are so incredibly complex. So when you get a group of diverse, complex individuals together in one room who's mission is to prepare students for an even more complex and unpredictable world, it can get hairy fast! For change initiatives to be successful, one must not only plan for small changes to the teaching and learning cycle but also figure out and communicate how that change initiative fits within the "big picture."

Daunting yes, but consider this. If you were plan and successfully implement a vision that an entire staff believes in (collective teacher efficacy), you have just positively influenced student achievement by almost 400% more than the average influencer on student achievement (and an astonishingly 3140% more effective at influencing student achievement than teacher performance pay, I say with a ;). You can check my math according to Hattie's research here

Learning Academy

Learning Academy  is an on-demand website for professional growth with resources, videos, articles from over 70+ DCSD designed classes.

  • I worked very closely with the DCSD IT department to develop the vision, design and functionality of Learning Academy.

  • I coordinated and held numerous workshops and feedback opportunities for district staff around Learning Academy content and functionality.

  • I added and managed content of Learning Academy totaling over 70+ classes and 800+ individual assets (resources)

Additionally, I recorded and edited the below tutorial video.

Example Of An Online Class I Built

Here is an example of an online class I built using Moodle. I pride myself in providing high quality, clear, and in depth online learning. The first video is a tour of the layout of the class. The second video are the video directions that guide participants through the class. I wrote, shot, and edited the video using Adobe Premiere Pro.
